LiST Training in Benin
From June 17 to 20, a Lives Saved Tool (LiST) training was organized for the Benin National Agency for Food and Nutrition (ANAN) staff and its partners as part of the NIPN4NIS initiative. The training aimed to equip participants with practical skills for assessing nutrition program impacts and prioritizing high-impact nutrition interventions.
One major outcome was the review of the nutrition plan currently under development. The review highlighted several shortcomings, such as the absence of a systematic and reproducible approach for prioritizing interventions and setting targets, lack of clarity in the methods for defining targets, and insufficient consideration of high-impact interventions on key indicators like stunting. As a result, some actionable recommendations were made:
· Organize a workshop to apply the Lives Saved Tool to the strategy currently under development.
· Calculate coverage slopes for nutrition interventions to prioritize activities and set appropriate targets within the plan.
· Conduct a retrospective analysis of indicator coverage using existing data.
· Revise the performance measurement framework to incorporate new interventions and targets.
· Undertake costing of the interventions included in the plan.
